i've done it. my first finished object of the new year! this weekend, i was introduced to the miracles held in a hot water bottle. i haven't been able to sleep well since my mom took ill. but my hot water bottle does the trick. it's only right that i knit my new companion a sweater to keep warm.

after some brief googling, i stumbled upon this BAWk thanks to Rachel of my glass house. i did a little remixing, changed the cable a bit and here you have my own bawk! i'll add pix later...

i am really procrastinating right now. i have been recently having anxiety attacks when it's time for me to leave my house and go to the hospital. my heart jumps in my throat and i run to find something, anything to keep me from leaving the house. i really should be there by now but it's so hard to know that i am going to have to leave the hospital again and my mom will still be there....

Happy New Year to one and all. i haven't really been in the posting mood in the past few weeks since my mom is really ill, but then again i could probably need a place where i can vent on a dail basis--whether or not anyone is actually listening. i must admit, that throughout it all, i keep on knitting.

it is 3 weeks today since my mom has been in the hospital. she suffered a massive heart attack on dec. 14. she is still trying to recover from the triple bypass sugery on the 16th that didn't really work and now she is going to need a heart transplant. i found out this morning that she has pneumonia, yet another complication, but she's still fighting and that's all i hope for.

i know that you are not thrown anything that you can't handle but i sometimes stop and wonder exactly how well am i handling this? i have always been able to switch on the auto pilot to make it through times of crisis but this is definitely going to be a long process.

today was my first day back at the restaurant, well sort of. i came in and set up for brunch but didn't actually work. brunch at that restaurant is exceptionally grueling i am not really in the frame of mind to be overly considerate to a bunch of self-absorbed, arrogant, extremely rich & demanding people. they may end up wearing their mimosa and eggs benedict, if they say the wrong thing.

so instead of work, i travel 90 minutes each way to my mom's hospital and stay there for 5 hours.i try to speak with at least one of her doctors ( she has a team of about 5 or so different specialists) every day and then i sit and talk to her, let her know that i love her and how beautiful she is....once she is a little more stable i'll feel more comfortable going back to work, but it's just too soon. i can't afford to do anything but knit as my ipod is currently not working and i have a very big stash.

now that fall is here, i am beginning to knit for all my friends. granted, i am not doing the crazy holiday knit for everyone psychosis that seems to ensnare most knitters i know. i just like making gifts for my friends without the pressure of holidays. so at some point during the fall most of my friends receive something made by me, whether it's a bedazzled something or other, a knitted object or a bath and & beauty product is yet to be determined but for all intents & purposes, it will be a warm fuzzy from me...

i am so happy to announce that i have the new rebecca and I've already found about three projects in there that i would love to do! tonight is the first tuesday in at least 6 weeks that i will be able to go the stitch n bitch. i've got some much finished stuff to show...my lanscape shawl and my sweater...
i'm getting tattooed today! i am very excited the closer i get to finishing this project, the happier i become....i'm about to make the shrug in the new rebecca out of a bright blue kureyon coloray, what joy!

Guess who finished her sweater??? This gal right here! See, I'm already getting better at posting again... it's only a week since last I posted. And so much has happened in this past week! I finally moved the rest of my stuff up from illadelph and now I'm just unpacking it all. Well, I am actually taking a break because I have quite a lot of stuff...I don't which I liked better having no stuff at all or too much....Well, I'm probably gonna start sorting stuff out to be discardes/ given away because it makes no sense. The best thing about my new pad is that I have shelves to store my yarn and now i can look at it all day long! It's just great!
Well, enough procrastinating, I have to get back to work now.

it has been quite a while since i last posted and i doubt that anyone still reads this but it;s all good. i got booted of the ring, it's a shame. i guess that i have been gallavanting around NYC, enjoying the summer and all. but i've still been knitting, which is definitely a goood thing! i made a landscape shawl out of mountain goat, it's a beautiful mohair blend on size 11s so it went really quickly. i can't wait for fall so i can wear it all the time. oh and i am making my first bottom up sweater a la elizabeth zimmerman out of left over araucania nature wool from my rambling rows, which i also completed this summerr. it's a lovely burgundy color with a roll cuff on the bottom and slighly bell sleeve that come down to my fingers. as soon as i find my rechargeable batteries for my digi cam, i;ll load some new flicks....mind you, i still haven't moved all my stuff up from philly and i've been here 4 months! it's coming this weekend though, and i am very excited to have my stash in one state again, i just can't wait.
my schedule is so flexible, there really is no excuse for my lack of posting but things are definitely changing around here....

and i thought that i would be the ultimate knitter for this qiuiz...i guess i even surprise myself sometimes. i know that this blog is primarily dedicated to my knitting but i have so many other things weighing down on me that i must address....my friend just recently posted about how she is becoming frustrated in the way men have been treating her differently now that she wears more girly stuff and has grown out her hair. As troublilng as it is, I wholeheartedly agree with her ( check her blog for the full story) and t makes me so angry how differently men treat you. they are more likely to dismiss you as a peer and see you in a sexual manner. i'm sure that i am not expressing my anger and angst as eloquently as i probably could but i am in an internet garage with a limited amount of time and i just need to release these thoughts before they consume me and i implode. whew and now i'm late for work...never enough time.....

well it's been quite a while since i last updated and so much has happened. I have tried to become a regular at the tuesdaySNB but that doesn't always seem to happen. I hae a job at a restaurant and a part tme gig assisting a music video director. As I have been trying to get my life in order, my blog has fallen by thewaside, I am so behind in the world of blogging that i didn't even know that there was a ne knitty on the scene. i still haven't found myself a new LYS but then again I haen't been looking very hard. I don't have internet access at home so i have to use an internet cafe, which sucks and costs mucho dinero....and i can't upload any new photos. i finally finished my poncho and the rambling rows, and i turned the heel on a sock that i started about 6 months ago. so that's my story and i'm off to explore brooklyn yarn stores...take care and i hope you're enjoying the sun as much as i am!

New York City is definitely a challenge for me. I feel pretty happy that I actually have a choice of serving jobs, which is better than being unemployed, but it will take at least another week before I actually begin making money and am put on the schedule. It's cool going from sheer desperation to actually having options...but it doesn't change the fact that I am still broke and living at my mother's house. I couldn't make any of the SNBs so far this week because i had to train at the first new job but now that i'll be working daytime, that will free me up to network, and knit....but now i have to figure out how on earth am I going to survive until then....

it's been quite a while since my last post but i do have good things to report. I am now updating from Brooklyn, the best place in the world (unfortunately i am sitting on the floor in my mother's living room, but i'm working on that) I still am unemployed but i am working on that as well. NOw I can finally check out the Stitch N Bitch that i have read so much about!
I have been picking up the needles again. My rambling rows is 95% done and my poncho is about 45% done. I could only bring about 3 projects with me which is probably good because now i have to finish them. I think that i am going back to philly later this week to pick up more of my stuff and begin to move. I have a few options available it's just which one fits my needs as a home and my price range as i have no money right now....but that's all good. once i have a new pad with dsl again, i will load up some pictures, but this will have to do for now. take care all....

well my life just took a HUGe left turn but i hope that it leads me to bigger and better things...well, i'm alm ost positive that i have job at a little production company back in nyc which starts in two weeks and i need to find a place in nyc...i haven't lived at home for quite a while and i can't bring myself to move back in with my mother. so any nyc bloggers that read this, if you hear of any sublets/ roommate share...even a couch, i'll probably be interested. in order to make more money to support my move, i have been working every day for about 3 weeks and i am getting really tired but my eye is on the prize....and maybe once i'm settled, i'll can come to the ny stitch n biitch that i hear about so often but can never attend.....

although it's been quiet on the blogging front, there's a whole lot of knitting going on....i have 4 babies to knit for so i am making 3 sets of bootees from the fabulous book 50 baby bootees to knit and lots of baby hats...i also started my striped sweater, but i've decided that i am going to do the front up to waist increase, and join it in the round...there are way too many ends to weave in for these stupid stripes...i finally made a hat with a brim that i actually like the way it turned out...all the new babies are throwing off my system but i am getting a lot of FOs out of the deal...okay, all bets are off till the baby stuff is done...

10 days and 1 skein and a half later, i have completed my sweater. i actually wore it to my crochet for knitters class this afternoon. due to the 10 ongong projects, i have enforced the finish two, start one project rule. so today i am finishing my glove/mittens. i mean in a few weeks, i won't need them anymore so i better hurry up and finish them now. i also would like to start to make crocheted hats, but i don't know where to begin, if anyone has any suggestions for patterns, i'd really appreciate it. gotta go and finish my gloves....

better late than never, right? well i got a little sidetracked by the immense amount of snow that has landed at my door step. a whopping 21 inches in philadelphia. it's been so long that i forgot how beautiful snow in the city really is....all that gross slush to jump around in, what joy! in all honesty, i really do enjoy a good snowstorm, everything becomes tranquil and everyone takes solace in the quiet. i also was able to do a whole lot of knitting with my two extra days off this week. i was able to complete one of my second pair of gloves, which are coming about beautifully, even though i don't really like the color. well you can decide for yourself, but the brown variegated was much prettier.

i also have started a few new things and now i have approximately 9 works in progress. i may have to use shobhana's rule of finishing two projects before starting another one.

1- my first attempt at learning cables. it's a hat made out of some leftover cork that i made a going away present for my neighbor bao (he has since moved to atlanta but he's still my neighbor, no matter what)

2- these are just another pair of socks for my so, dan. this is my first pair using the regia stretch and it's coming out pretty nice, i may just keep them for myself...

3- this is a scarf for my friend khalilah, just something to keep her warm in these frigid days and purple is one of her favorite colors. i bought the yarn (brown sheep's burly spun) at skein lane in el cerrito.

4- yes the rambling rows....i stepped away for a while but i have 31 squares complete so far, but i am no longer doing the square a day thing....i think i'll do a 3 squares a week, it's a little more reasonable. i think part of the reason why i started so many other projects is because i was getting bored with the afghan.

5-tank's hat is a surprise so i can't post any pix here until i put it on her head....will post when it's done. for now, all i will saw is that it's a hat with a brim that i am knitting out of manos de uruguay.

6-i have a hat that i frogged twice and am swatching another pattern, it's out of pretty colors of mission falls, just another funky watchcap for the so.

7-and finally, my piece de resistance!!!(insert drumroll here) i have just started my first sweater of my own design! it's a top down raglan with some beautiful yarn that i bought here. i must admit that ida riley duncan's the complete book of progressive knitting was and the incredible, custom-fit raglan sweater site, was an immense help. i only started it today.

i also bought some delicious rowan wool/cotton that i am plan on making into a striped turtleneck, yet again, of my own design.....just look at these colors, aren't they yummie? oh i've been working on my coding and that's how i figured out these pretty little pop up windows....

i saw this quiz on craftydiva's blog and i just had to take it. at least i'm not as obsessed as i thought i was. well i'm back to knitting and typing again, albeit very slowly. i had to knit in order to maximize all this knitting time since i am going to be home for a whole week! it's like an unplanned vacation. i just am lacking the vacation funds.

i have been cooking every day. i am fortunate enough to have a fresh grocer as my local grocery store because they deliver and since i only have one hand, carrying groceries is not an option. i made pad thai last nite, a pasta in a basil pesto with veggies and chicken tonite and i baked banana bread and 2 1//2 dozen chocolate chip cookies today too. i feel so domesticated and skillful!

i also found a blog that tickles my fancy-negroplease. he always has really good entries and links to the peeps from the real world/road rules challenge which i do watch, as pathetic as that is. well, i must return to my baking and knitting....

how about my day got worse, i actually had to go work last nite, after all that and then when i came home and was cleaning out a soap mold to make more soap, i stabbed myself in the right palm. i spent 6 hours in the emergency room & came home at 4am with 6 stitches....now i can't work, can't knit, i can't even tie my shoes for a week....can it get any worse?

my dog just got hit by a car and i am really freaked out right now. i watched it happen and i think that i am in worse shape than my dog. the guy was driving really fast and luckily he stopped to see if he was okay. i was supposed to go to a sock class (from the toe up) at my lys but couldn't go because i was called in to work. then this happened and now i am really distraught. we took otis (my pooch) to the animal hospital but they sent us home since he's got no broken bones or anything but we have to wait to see if there is any internal damage. i really freaked when it happened. as a matter of fact, i hav a huge cut on my knee and i don't know when or how it happened. if anything happened to my dog, i don't know what i would do if he didn't make it. he's my baby. please keep me and my dog in your prayers

well it's sad but true i have been knitting less, playing the ps2 more. but you know i have been working a lot more this week. next week i'll get back to my normal schedule and i'll be okay. i feel like i haven't seen my boyfriend in weeks and we live together. we have opposite work schedules (him days, me nites) not to mention that the soap is making me crazy, does anyone know how to make a good chocolate brown?

so the sims have not only affected my knitting, it's affecting my sleeping patterns as well. i'be been staying up all night and sleeping all day.it not to mention that i haven't been able to sleep through the nite since someone tried to break in my house. yeah i get really freaked out and am afraid to leave and come back so i just stay in the house. i feel like a prisoner in my own home and it sucks. i mean it's really bad when i get behing on the rambling rows, you know!!! that's my story for now....

i am getting really stressed out because i need to make 100 bars of soap for my sister in law for valentine's day but i don't even have the ingredients nearby so luckily i found this lovely websitethat hooked me up so i should finish it in time. today i'm gonna start some socks for my little mannie friend with a reinforced heel cuz he needs them for work.

yesterday the sims for ps2 came out and i'm so excited! I'm gonna pick it up today and i'm gonna play it all weekend long! i am the biggest dork and i love it! but then again, i always rush out to buy new games and only play them about three times before i tire of them but i have a good feeling that this new game will cut into my knitting time. we'll see what happens.

okay before i start off on my political tirade, i just want to say that i enjoyed my self at the knitting meetup. even though there was five of us, we held it down and i learned about yarn stores nearby that i didn't even know existed! i guess that's what happens when you can't drive....i am finished the minnesota mittens! two finished objects in one week- i'm on fire! okay there's my obligatory knitting content but there's just sooo much on my mind.

i know i usually stick to my craft content but there is just too much going on that i absolutely have to rant about. first off this article is about the recent backlash about the joe boxer commercial with the black dud hopping around in his skivvies. although, i wouldn't consider it ;coonery; i must admit that i did cringe slightly before i began cracking up hysterically. read the article and let me know what you think...

kaya brielfy began to talk about the death penalty and i must say that i appluad the governor of illinois for his pardon of the death row inmates. there is a 60% errror rate of death row convicts. that means that they are killing a lot more innocent people than guilty and as heinous as the crimes they may have commited it is not worth being murdered. whew...i feel much better and i haven't even scratched the surface. let me stop now before this becomes a blog about my political tendencies. that's not true because i politicize everything-including my knitting, so who am i kidding.

I have my first FO of 2003! I made a pair of legwarmers out of artful yarns' musuem in bright blue. I made them on Monday cuz it was so cold that tights just weren 't doin' it for me. Will post a picture shortly. I am 85% done my minnesota mittens. i just have to make the mitten top to cover the fingers on the last glive and i'lbe ready to go. I've been walking around with one mitten for a week as i only had one. at last i'll have to warm hands!

today i tool a trip to my lys and to wind some yarn and to pick up some yarn for my legwarmers. on my way back home, i stopped at urban outfitters looking for random house stuff and i came across a really cool book called all my life for sale. it's a log of an internet performance art piece in which a guy sold all his possessions, (even his half used mouthwash!) over ebay. this site is his travelogue as goes around the u.s. and visits all the people who bought his stuff. check it out.

i have been making steady progress on my rambling rows. i'm up to block 13 which puts me a little ahead of my one block a day schedule (i started on new year's day) which means that i can start tank's hat this week!!!okay that's my story for now

wow it's been a minute since last i had something to say. well, i have been working non stop since the 28th and then i've been knitting all morning before work. I have lots to talk about! i started my rambling rows afghan and i have done 5 rows. but i wouldn'e be me if i didn't royally screw it up in some random way! I pick up stitches so horribly that i had to make the pick up side the wrong side and now my afghan will be the mirror opposite of the pattern, which isn't so bad, i think. it's a little irritating though.. i also and making the minnesota mittens in the book folk mittens out of my koigu stash. i like thes because they are the flop down mittens with fingerless gloves that all real smokers who love mittens need. i still have as of yet to frog the sweater i started for my niece 3 months ago and start over but hey....it will definitely get done soon...especially so that she won't outgrow it...

i just got the best belated Xmas present ever! a gift certificate to my lys from my boyfriend and a replacement copy of my ready to die (notorious big for those who don't know) that he lost.....i'm so excited about the possibilites. i definitely want to get more araucania (which is what i'm using for the rambling rows, and maybe yarn for the white cabled sweater in the last rowan #32 that i wanted to try, i think it's polar and if not, well, there's always koigu! that's my story for now, i'm off to see the two towers!

merry christmas to all. i am posting live and direct from my mother's living room. with my two year old niece, "touch typing" away for me as seh can do everything by herself, the big girl that she is. i have returned to my role as santa's elf-playing with my nieces and putting toys together. to keep sane, i started making a pair of socks out of trekking sck yarn...it's a straight stockinette sock on 2 dpns. I started it last nite and i've already turned the heel. at this rate, i'll finish a pair of socks before i return to philly on friday! happy knitting all!

wow people are actually reading this! i didn't think that anyone was actually out there. now, i really have to get this mama jama together. i've been in a big funk these days and my house has taken all the blame for it. it's like a train ran through and knocked everything on the floor, including my heart....i feel bad that my boyfriend is subject to my many moods swings. speaking of whom, i just knit him his very first hat. i've made him socks before but never a hat and since the recent snowstorm he need a noggin cozy....it's was just a quickie-mission falls superwash, 2 x 2 rib watchcap i made it in an afternoon. maybe i should start holiday presents for people....

walking in a winter wonderland....oh what joy we got double the amount of snow all last winter in just one snowstorm! I finished to projects on sunday so i got yarn to start my first fairisle project! I am making the lapland mittens from the folk mittens book. I also just bought one of the many knitting books on my wish list: the joy of knitting by lisa myers. i feel like a big loser because lisa is the owner of my lys and i never bought her book. but i have it now and i am burning through it. i am also reteaching myself html. so pretty soon this won't be the first page you'll see. my site will have a little more bells & whistles...all in good time....

so i've pretty much depleted my finished objects gift stash and now is the time that i need it most. currently i am working on a going away present for my neighbor, bao, who is moving to atlanta next week it's a simple fitted hat with a 1x1 rib border in cork. i am running out of time and he only recently (meaning 2 days ago) told me that a hat is what he wants so i needed something that knits up quick. when it's done i'll put a phot of it up.

i am also working on a sweater out ot the rowan pipsqueaks book for my niece, autumn. it will be my first attempt at fairisle knitting, so wish me luck.

Okay post bday, post halloween (my favorite holiday) and stil no posts from me! I go online every day, but i don't know why i can't keep my site current. Well, in the past few weeks, i have finished many a project, but as soon as i learn how to upload it from my digital camera, you'll get to see it. That's my story and I'm stickin to it. Long time no speak. I went to the Bay Area and missed Stitches! The best knitting event on ther East Coast. But it's okay I spent plenty of time and money at Skein Lane in El Cerrito. I did a lot of knitting on the 5hour plane ride. I have lots of finished projects to date. I made a really long seed stitch scarf fro my friend's bday. I made a ribbed watch cap with Classic Elite Waterspun. IAnd i finally blocked and finished my FCEK fall sweater #2 in Cash Iroha!!. Yay for me!

welcome to my world. My name is Jasmine and I'm a knitaholic. The first step in recorvery is admitting there is a problem now only eleven more steps to go. Today I am being naughty and refusing to finish my cash iroha sweater from the fall fcek#2. I hate mattress stitch more than life itself and there is no light in my apartment so I'm also going blind while doing it.

Until I refresh my memory of HTML, this will be my site's design. But have no fear, in a month this beaut will be a Jasmine orginal. Back to knitting...

As of now, I am working on a pair of Koigu mittens of my own design, a ribbed watchcap and a basketweave hat. I'm trying to start early for the holiday season...let's see how I do. Okay well ta ta for now, i must get ready for work. peace.
